# Official staff card

> How to check that someone helping you really is from the AuthenticateMe support team.

AuthenticateMe staff sometimes join a server to help, for example to verify a member or remove an old record from your verified members. Before you act on anything they ask, check that they're really one of us.

## Ask for the staff card

Ask the person to run `/card` in your server. It posts an **Official Staff Card** that names them and their position in the AuthenticateMe support team.

Only official AuthenticateMe support staff can use `/card`. Anyone else gets an error, even though the command is listed for everyone in Discord.

## Double-check in the support server

You can also join the [AuthenticateMe Support Server](https://discord.gg/KdcYHcQ) and check that the person is listed there as staff. The team is introduced on [Meet the team](https://docsm.authenticateme.xyz/about/meet-the-team.md).

## Impersonation

Pretending to be AuthenticateMe staff, or faking a staff card, is a serious violation. Anyone found doing it is permanently blacklisted from every AuthenticateMe service, and may be reported to Discord's Trust and Safety team. If someone claims to be staff and can't run `/card`, report them in the [Support Server](https://discord.gg/KdcYHcQ).
